1. How Can I buy one?
The easiest way is the official online shop at: nonavarnado.bigcartel.com

2. What payment types are accepted?
We use paypal for payment processing; that means if you have an account you use it or just use the industry standard (SSL) credit card processing without signing up.

*I don't want to submit my CC information online. (Ok, Call us!)
No problem, just send an email with the order you'd like to place and we'll be happy to call you back and take information over a personal phone call.

We also have a google checkout account for large orders & on request. For wholesale & custom orders; personal & business check, bank transfers and money orders are accepted when arranged in advance. When in doubt, email: info (AT) nonavarnado.com

3. Are there any local stores where I can check them out or buy?
We are stocked by Bicycle Habitat and 718 Cyclery in NYC, participate in seasonal fashion design shows and organize an annual Style Ride event; where a selection of pieces are for sale.

4. How does shipping work for online purchases?
We use the United States Postal Service (USPS) for all shipments. All products are properly bagged or wrapped and boxed to arrive beautifully and sent with tracking. We think it’s a great service & a real bargain. Additional signature confirmation or insurance can be added on request for an additional fee.

5. Do you do combined (lower) shipping for more than 1 item?
Absolutely. Though the site lists “with additional items” the real combined shipping will be calculated individually based on your actual purchase. If you’re ordering more than 2 items, the reduced combined rate will be used.

6. How can I be sure about what size is best?
Sizing is an art, not a science, and every body is different. We work with standard womens sizes from 4-12. Any other sizes/specifications can be done using the couture-custom option. If you’re in doubt, just email your measurements to: info (AT) nonavarnado.com and we’ll get back to you on choosing the best fit for you.

7. What is your return policy?
If we determine that there is a manufacturing defect, not due to improper use, we may choose to accept a garment for store credit, but it remains at the sole decision of the seller. As much as we’d love to sell more stuff, it’s better to buy what you’ll actually love.

8. Where can I see more pictures?

9. Who’s excited about the collection?

We’ve gotten some love from: LookBooks.com, Well & Good NYC, Fatlace.com/ladylike, Bike Hugger, Go Means Go, Dean ‘Blotto’ Grey, PushBike SF and NYC & SF Fixed Forums. Super awesome considering the $0 advertising budget.

10. What events are coming up?

This is fashion about movement & having fun. We’re doing new Brooklyn photoshoots, a trunk show in Soho and getting ready for Style Ride events in the spring – coming to a city near you! A pop-up shop and participation in local designer sales are also TBA.

11. Can I get involved with the Nona Varnado label?

This is a money-losing labor of love, right now. If you’re really into fashion, design, bicycles and having a good time with amazing people, it’s a good place to be. If you need to pay for a penthouse apartment…. probably not. Collaborations are the spice of life, but we’re pretty choosy about what we do. If you’re got real, tangible skills or regular time you’d like to give – email: info (AT) nonavarnado.com

If you’re a creative person with an idea or a proposition – email: projecta (AT) nonavarnado.com

12. I’m a magazine, blogger or reviewer, what should I know before asking for samples?

First Please Read: http://www.fashion-incubator.com/archive/psa-to-bloggers-wanting-samples-for-review/

Please know that I’d love for you to review the line, but that it’s a limited time trial and not free stuff.

SHIPPING:

How are things shipped?
I use USPS - The American Postal Service. They're affordable, located almost everywhere and are usually more environmentally friendly in their packaging. If you'd like to request an alternative carrier an additional fee may apply.

How long does it take to ship?
If it's in stock it ships in 48 hours. If there's a production run required it is between 2-5 weeks, something that is only possible because everything is handmade by a local NYC apparel workshop. If your order is delayed due to production you will receive a free shipping upgrade and an email notification with an expected ship date.

Can I request expedited shipping or special services such as insurance?
Yes, but it must be requested and any additional charges paid for within 24 hours of ordering.

TECHNICAL & CUSTOM:

13. How are the women’s sizes fit?

The stock size is a 6 – a small/medium, the middle or average between an xsmall (4) and our largest size (12). All the pieces are designed to fit well with a little leeway for different shapes. I’ve had fittings with at least 60 different women, most of whom actually ride a bicycle on a daily basis. Of everything the biggest fit issues are the length of the flank (butt) in shorter or taller ladies and narrow or wider shoulders. The sizing is reflective of what is most successful, most often. Custom or Couture alterations to a piece are available for a minimal fee, provided that it is a simple pattern alteration and the fabric needs are not more than average. Anything really out of the ordinary can be done, but it will be considered a commission.

14. Can you make a custom size/color for an individual or team?

Absolutely. I love making new things and working with people, I've done custom sizing, fabrics, design and patterning. Prices range from $300 - $1500 depending on the complexity of the project and average about $600.

For team jerseys, it's much cheaper and easy as long as it's a minimum of 12 pieces. We'll work with you on any custom screen printing (Flat Reflective Grey is SO CHIC!) or other options. If you can order a minimum of 24 pieces it can be just as expensive as a plain 'ol mass produced jersey, just way more awesome.
